NYC Hotel Report 2016
January 19, 2016New York City travelers will find the best hotel rates during the months of January and February. According to the latest report from NewYorkHotels.org, that’s when 3- and 4-star hotels in the Big Apple are most affordable.
For comparative purposes, the survey determined the minimum room rate for a 3-star and 4-star hotel in Midtown Manhattan each and every day in 2015. In coming up with the rankings, Midtown Manhattan was designated as encompassing the section of the city between 23rd Street and 59th Street.
Average overnight rates of $87 and $86 respectively for the most affordable 3-star double room handily make January and February the cheapest months to stay in the city. Hotels with a 4-star rating are most affordable during these two months as well at an average minimum of $102 per night. The flipside of the survey reveals that September and October are the costliest months. Visitors planning to stay overnight in Manhattan during these months can expect to pay, on average, a tad above $200 for a 3-star room. For a room at a 4-star hotel they will have to spend $227 in September and $231 in October.
Comparing rates on a day-by-day basis, it’s probably not surprising that New Year’s Eve comes in as the most expensive. Year-end revelers in the Big Apple had to spend $361 and $416 respectively for overnight stays in the most affordable 3- or 4-star hotel room on December 31. Joining New Year’s Eve in the Top 10 costliest dates of the year were six days in the middle and at the end of September, the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend, and the 2nd and 5th of December. The least expensive 3-star hotel rooms averaged $233 to $242 on these particular dates.
